Blindness

Katie Trudell

Junior

How?

How could I have passed by you

Every day and

Never know.

How come I never saw It there?

How come I never thought that you had problems too?

The words:

“Me, Myself, and I”

Are massive, black,

Disgusting.

Why did I put these blinders on?

My tunnel vision kept me from seeing

All the people,

Right outside,

Needing:

Compassion, understanding, friendship,

Love.

Sitting on that

Cold,

Dark,

Gravel

With you,

I finally see.

You’re wounded

Far more than me.

Not the kind of wound a Band-Aid can fix,

But still,

I give you my time, my love, and my heart

As your First Aid kit.
